  • Eldritch Horror
    Starts: 6:00 pm
    Ends: August 6, 2015 - 9:30 pm
    Description: Update

Last session, two parties of intrepid investigators set out to battle the Ancient Ones. Neither succeeded. Brad managed to kill off every fighting specialist in battling Ithaqua, the Wind Walker. Bob lead a party against Yog Sothoth. They fought bravely, but could not defeat the ancient one.

Enough is enough. This week we shall put an end to the dreaded wind walker. Dress warmly -- it may be unseasonable warm outside, but inside there is a deadly chill.

    What is this meetup?

Every other Thursday, we meet to play Eldritch Horror, with the goal of playing against, and defeating, all of the ancient ones. Whether you are a novice or a seasoned investigator, join us for the struggle.

If you've never played and want to learn more about the game, Fantasy Flight has a great tutorial on their website: https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/products/eldritch-horror/

If you are planning to come, please RSVP so that we know whether to set up one or two games.

    What is Eldritch Horror?

An ancient evil is stirring. You are part of a team of unlikely heroes engaged in an international struggle to stop the gathering darkness. To do so, you’ll have to defeat foul monsters, travel to Other Worlds, and solve obscure mysteries surrounding this unspeakable horror. The effort may drain your sanity and cripple your body, but if you fail, the Ancient One will awaken and rain doom upon the known world.

Eldritch Horror is a cooperative game for one to eight players, based on the fiction of H.P. Lovecraft and inspired by the classic board game Arkham Horror. In Eldritch Horror, investigators travel the globe in an urgent quest to save the world from a diabolical, omnipotent Ancient One. With four different Ancient Ones, twelve investigators, numerous monsters, and hundreds of possible encounters, every game provides an unique and epic adventure.

Location: Around the Table Game Pub, 7600 196th Street Southwest #300, Lynnwood, WA 98036, United States
Description: Play this massive game of dark terror!

Learn the rules, play the game, have fun!

Cthulhu Wars is a strategy boardgame in which the players take the part of alien races and gods taken from the Cthulhu mythos created by H. P. Lovecraft. The game is physically large, and includes sixty-four figurines of the cultists, monsters, aliens, and Great Old Ones that range in height from approximately 20 mm to nearly 180 mm.

The game takes place on a map of Earth. Each player takes the part of one of four factions included in the base game. At the start of a turn, players Gather Power, then, during a series of Action Rounds, they spend this Power to accomplish various tasks, such as recruiting Cultists, moving units, engaging in battle, summoning monsters, building Gates, casting spells, and Awakening their Great Old One. When all players run out of Power, the Action phase ends and the next turn begins. Victory is determined by accumulating points on the Doom Track. The first player to 30 is the lone victor *if* he has unlocked all six of spell books.

Driving the strategy are a player's wish to expand his power base, and his need to accomplish six tasks to acquire his faction's spell books. Each faction has a unique set of monsters, spell books, and special abilities, and has different requirements to acquire its spell books. All factions have multiple strategies open to them.

The base game supports 2-4 players (the map supports 5 players), but with new factions and maps released as expansions it can support up to 7 players.

    Starts: 6:00 pm
    Ends: August 20, 2015 - 9:30 pm

*** This week we are playing Zombicide! Zombicide is a collaborative game in which players take the role of a survivor – each with unique abilities – and harness both their skills and the power of teamwork against the hordes of unthinking undead! Zombies are predictable, stupid but deadly, controlled by simple rules and a deck of cards. Unfortunately for you, there are a LOT more zombies than you have bullets.

Find weapons, kill zombies. The more zombies you kill, the more skilled you get; the more skilled you get, the more zombies appear. The only way out is zombicide! ***

Join us weekly to meet new folks and play games--some old favorites and maybe something new.

Each week will feature a theme. This could be a game type or genre; it could be a game setting or franchise. If you have a game that matches that week's theme then bring it in!

Some compounds are flammable and will grow more and more volatile over time; take too long to gather the necessary elements for those compounds and a lot of hard work will soon be scattered across the lab.

Around the Table

Around the Table is being built from the ground up as a hub for the neighborhood and boardgamers alike. As a gaming establishment, we aim to feature a large selection of boardgames for sale both popular and niche, new and used, and with a back room for quiet gaming, while also hosting obvious events like Magic drafts as well as more obscure ones like pizza-and-beer Game Nights. As a neighborhood establishment, we aim to provide parents a space to unwind, with an open front cafe/retail space to play boardgames while knocking back an IPA. We also want to satisfy children with a large selection of locally crafted ice-cream by the scoop. Events we host range from private birthday parties and charity beer tastings, to book club gatherings. More than anything, we aim to create a place that isn't just beer and isn't just geek. Everyone has something to bring to the table, whether it's a game or simply the whole family. We hope to see you soon--Around the Table
