  • D&D Encounters: Tyrrany of Dragons
    Starts: 6:00 pm
    Ends: April 1, 2015 - 9:00 pm
Location: Round the Table Game Pub, 196th Street Southwest, Lynnwood, WA, United States
Description: This event is open to all players of all skill levels.

For years, the evil Cult of the Dragon has devoted itself to creating undead dragons in a vain attempt to fulfill an ancient prophecy. However, the cultists were misguided. They misunderstood. But now, under new leadership, the cult believes that the prophecy does not speak of undead dragons, but of a dragon empire that’s been extinct for 25,000 years. Tiamat, Queen of Evil Dragons, has languished in the Nine Hells for millennia. The cult believes that the time of her return is at hand.

The cult has a new face and a new mission. It seeks to free Tiamat from the Nine Hells and bring her into the Forgotten Realms. To accomplish its goal, the cult needs five ancient dragon masks and the support of evil dragons everywhere. The cult leaders—each one a "dragon whisperer"—have reached out to the evil dragons of the Sword Coast and earned their allegiance.

Meanwhile, evil dragons in partnership with the cult seek to amass a treasure hoard worthy of their dark queen, not by plundering their own hoards (of course) but by stealing money from cities, caravans, good-aligned dragons, merchant ships, and other sources. Their ravenous hunt for treasure throws the Sword Coast into upheaval. Neverwinter, Waterdeep, Baldur’s Gate—no city is safe from their depredations.

The situation is dire. However, the Sword Coast is far from defenseless. Powerful factions are ready to rise up and put an end to the tyranny of dragons. Adventurers throughout the Realms must join forces to face Tiamat, destroy the Cult of the Dragon, and prevent the rise of a new dragon empire. In their hands, the future lies.

Around the Table

Around the Table is being built from the ground up as a hub for the neighborhood and boardgamers alike. As a gaming establishment, we aim to feature a large selection of boardgames for sale both popular and niche, new and used, and with a back room for quiet gaming, while also hosting obvious events like Magic drafts as well as more obscure ones like pizza-and-beer Game Nights. As a neighborhood establishment, we aim to provide parents a space to unwind, with an open front cafe/retail space to play boardgames while knocking back an IPA. We also want to satisfy children with a large selection of locally crafted ice-cream by the scoop. Events we host range from private birthday parties and charity beer tastings, to book club gatherings. More than anything, we aim to create a place that isn't just beer and isn't just geek. Everyone has something to bring to the table, whether it's a game or simply the whole family. We hope to see you soon--Around the Table

I know we've been beating you over the head with new releases this week but...

CATAN! LOST CITIES!

Today: Friday Night Magic @ 7pm; Edmonds Community College Game Club @ 7pm.

Saturday: Magic Tournament [$5 - Standard Format] @ 6:30pm.

Just in time for whatever happens to be going on in your life, the new edition of Catan just dropped! NEW artwork for all components and cards, NEW boxes, and best of all a NEW demo copy for the store with an actual legible non-photocopied rulebook!

To top off this tremendous news, one of our favorite two player classics has finally been brought back from the dead like Lazarus of yore. 'Lost Cities' learns fast, plays fast and is a handful of fun in a tiny box. I *literally* can't think of a better way to enjoy the weather this weekend than with some good friends and some classics games. So what are you waiting for?

See you soon!

Adventure!

Today: Co-Operative Gaming MeetUp @ 6:30pm; X-Wing Spring League [Final Week - Warm up to Sunday's tournament!] @ 7pm.

Friday: Friday Night Magic @ 7pm; Edmonds Community College Game Club @ 7pm.

The guys at Rio Grande have gone a little tongue-and-cheek with Dominion card game expansions in the past but 'Adventures' has to be them at their tonguiest and cheekiest. On second thought, that sounds horrific. Forget I said anything and just read the description to see what I mean.

With those references to body parts out of the way, the hardware in this box is pretty exciting. This new 400 card expansion includes includes Kingdom and Event Cards, Tavern Mats and the return of favorite mechanics like Reserve and Duration cards, that have effects on future turns.

Your favorite deck-builder just got a whole lot more deck-buildy.
